Don’t Chase Your Calling—Walk With God
What if your business is not separate from your calling—but actually part of it?
In this episode of Kingdom Keys for Business, Life & Work, Gea Gort and Bill Job talk with “Jacob,” a fifth-generation Dutch entrepreneur whose family has worked in the food industry for more than 125 years.
As a teenager, Jacob sensed a call to serve God among the nations and assumed that might mean leaving business for full-time ministry. Instead, God gradually brought his calling and entrepreneurship together.
Jacob shares how his journey eventually took him to Asia, where he developed a protein-rich food business with a holistic mission. The road was far from straightforward: partnerships failed, doors closed, cultural mistakes were made, and he encountered situations where corruption was considered normal. Yet along the way, Jacob repeatedly saw unexpected people, ideas, and opportunities come together.
One of his most important practices is surprisingly simple: every Sunday morning he walks for one or two hours, praying, listening, and bringing his business before God.
The conversation explores calling, integrity, receiving ideas from God, finding the right people, and redefining profit as impact—not simply money.
Jacob’s encouragement is simple: you don’t need to anxiously search for your calling. Ask God for wisdom and guidance, walk faithfully, and trust Him to lead.
