The Church Was Never Meant to Stay Seated

Is the mission of the Church something we schedule—or something Christians are called to live?

Jesus did not simply call His followers to gather.

He sent them.

Matthew 28 commands disciples to make disciples of all nations. Acts 1 calls believers witnesses empowered by the Holy Spirit. And John 20 records Jesus saying, “As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.”

The Church gathers for worship, teaching, encouragement, fellowship, and equipping.

Then the Church scatters.

Into homes.

Workplaces.

Neighborhoods.

Schools.

Communities.

And ordinary relationships.

A healthy church should care deeply for the people already inside.

But that care is not meant to turn the Church inward forever.

Christ forms His people so they can faithfully represent Him in the world.

That does not mean every Christian becomes a missionary overseas.

It means every Christian lives as someone who has been sent.

Your workplace matters.

Your neighborhood matters.

Your family matters.

The conversations you have throughout an ordinary week matter.

Mission is not just another department of church life.

Being sent is part of what it means to belong to Jesus.

We gather to be formed.

We scatter to live faithfully.

And wherever Christ places us, we bear witness to Him.
