The Practice of Scripture: Interpreting pt 2: Right Words | Right Ways
Have you ever met a Christian who sounded like they knew the Bible really well, but you really couldn’t stomach being around them and the way they acted toward people? It’s a sticky spot of interpretation - when people arrive at the right words of what scripture says to be true, but don’t end up living the right ways that scripture is aiming at.
None of us want to be hypocrites. None of us think we are. But the really really uncomfortable reality of many Christian interpretations of scripture, is that we have arrived at the correct words for correct theology and correct morality, but somehow haven’t arrived at a correct, clear, and vibrant way of love for others in the process. It’s like we need to correct our correctness, and somehow make sure we end up with ways that match our words.
Here are this week's sermon notes to track along with the message.
