We often can pride ourselves in various great accomplishments and endeavors in this world which thereby makes us tend to be presumptuous in accomplishing any task that comes our way. However, shocks of disbelief befall us when things don't go the way we presumed them to go. This is what the Israelites faced in Amos' day where they thought their works made them have a right standing before God on His Day.
